Blogging and Community

I’m really happy that a post that I wrote as part of the Chitika Blog Bash is now live.

Blog Bash

You can read my post about how communities form around blogs and why they are important. The goal of these 30 days of posts was so that people could come and read them all and have a very good understanding of things to think about as they started blogging. I loved the simple laid back approach and the variety of voices that were part of it.

Would love to hear what you think over on that site so let’s direct the conversation there.

Coffee With crayon April 19th, 2007

There was a great turnout on crayonville this morning for Coffee with Crayon. As always, engaging conversation kept things interesting, especially with Virtual Thirst happening this week. The full transcript can be downloaded here cr0007transcript4-19.pdf

Another Kind of Bracket

This time for podcasts…and crayoncast is on the ballot. Interestingly enough crayoncast is up against double dippers C.C. Chapman (managing the gray), Shel Holtz and Neville Hobson (FIR) and Joseph Jaffe (Across the Sound). Vote on Fly-Over Marketing. Any thoughts? I’m interested to hear your comments.

PodCamp NYC – My Presentation

I’m really excited that so many of my fellow crayonistas came to bits and pieces of PodCamp NYC. Since this is “my” community it was great to have them all become part of it.

I’ve just posted the presentation I gave titled “The New Media Playground” and that link points directly to a PDF copy of it.

The turn out for the event was amazing. So many fresh faces from every walk of life. Every new person I talked to was either thinking about, creating or just starting to learn about the brave new world that is out there. I can’t wait to see the content created out of one weekend of mind share like this!

If you want to see what you missed just hit up the Flickr tag of PodCampNYC and you’ll get a sense of the fun that was had.

Your MVB Final Four

4_headerLadies and Gentlemen, your Final Four: Seth Godin, Wired, Jaffe Juice and Beyond Madison Avenue.

Seth will play Wired in the quintesential old versus new media matchup and Jaffe Juice will play the consortium of bright minds like Paul McEnany and Mack Collier at Beyond Madison Avenue.

Top8To Brand Autopsy, Gaping Void, Church of the Customer and Logic+Emotion, that you are MVB Heavyweights goes without saying. Your badge awaits!

The voting was extra tight, with BMA edging out L+E by 1 single, piddley vote! Close call indeed.

Final_four_3Thanks to all who have suggested prizes to the winners. Some of the suggestions include a crayon-hosted party on crayonville Island, guest appearances on Across the Sound, copies of Seth Godin’s books (how about a link from Seth Godin :) ) and additions to the Jaffe Juice blogroll. I’ll also throw tickets to the Future of Online Advertising conference (which I am not speaking at)

And of course, Andy Nulman from POW! has offered to donate a prize (Andy, I’m thinking some kind of award/trophy or how about a basket from Cafe Press i.e. coffee mug, T-shirt with the MVB logos)?

All that’s left is to VOTE! Click here to take survey

Alternative’s Alternative

I know I am a little late to the party but I thought I would share anyway

I just read on on my way to work via CNN.com on my mobile how the band Nine Inch Nails is doing some really interesting things to promote their new album “Year Zero” which is due in stores April 17. From cryptic t-shirts to USB drives found in Barcelona, Potugal and Manchester to savvy fans finding vaguely promoted websites, it is all adding up to nothing but great buzz.
